Flying Eagle Cents were produced because large cent coppers were becoming expensive to produce. The U.S. Government decided to make small cents. Flying Eagle Cents were the first of the small cents. To find good examples cherry pick by inspecting many and find good strike examples by comparing the eagle head and tail feathers deails of coins in similar grade. Many higher grade coins have been cleaned which can reduce value 50% of retail on the Flying Eagle Cent value. Key date is the 1856 Flying Eagle Cent.
