1793 FLOWING HAIR LARGE CENT VALUE

Flowing Hair Large Cents were produced in early 1793 and on the reverse first depicted a chain link circle around the words ONE CENT. Because of public opinion the chain links were replaced with a wreath. There are 3 versions of the chain reverse Large Cent and 3 versions of the wreath reverse Large Cent. All are dated 1793. Many early copper large cents have been cleaned or polished over the past centuries that have smooth out the surfaces of many Flowing Hair Cents. These coins are considered damaged by certified grading services. A damaged coin, although genuine, reduce the Flowing Hair Large Cent Value dramatically and could be 50% less of retail value. Care should be taken to find original problem free surface examples or price the coin accordingly if damaged. There are many different die varieties to collect and the search to complete a full collection all varieties can take many years. The cain cent reverse are the most rare variety of Flowing Hair Large cents. There are fewer than 1000 chain reverse large cents and there are several 1000 wreath reverse large cents surviving today. The rarest of the 1793 Large Cents is the 1793 Flowing Hair Large Cent Strawberry Leaf. There are only 4 known to exist.
