BARBER QUARTER MINTAGE

1892-1916

Barber Quarters were used heavily in circulation. The word liberty on the Obverse was first of the details to show wear. For good strike compare hair on obverse and lower right eagle leg and arrows on the reverse. Because of extensive use in circulation, the remaining Barber Quarters existing are heavily worn and many are in low grades of fine 12 or less. Mint State examples of Barber Quarter are elusive and Barber Quarter Value go up dramatically, especially above MS-65. Key date Barber Quarters are 1896-S, 1901-S, 1913-S.
