BRAIDED HAIR LARGE CENT MINTAGE

1839-1857

Braided-Hair-Large-Cent-Value

Braided Hair Large Cents have two designs for the obverse. From 1839-1843 the head is tilted so that the bottom point of the neck is above the 8 of the date. In 1843 -1857 changes were made that the bottom point of the neck is above the first 1 of the date. For strike sharpness on obverse, compare hair, star details, and dentils along rim. On the reverse, compare the wreath leaves details and dentils along rim. Good Strike details can add to the Braided Hair Large Cent value compared to coins of the same grade with weaker strike.
